HAMILTON, Ohio — A 33-year-old man named Salvador Hernandez-Solorzano was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Cincinnati on Tuesday in Hamilton, Ohio, according to an ICE spokesperson's statement.
In the statement, the spokesperson said he is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador wanted there on murder charges and that he is also a member of the "designated foreign terrorist organization MS-13."
"ICE remains committed to working with our DOJ partners from the FBI, DEA and ATF to enhance public safety across Michigan and Ohio," the statement reads. "Hernandez remains in ICE custody at the Butler County Jail pending immigration proceedings.”
The Cincinnati branch of the FBI shared a post on their social media highlighting the arrest. In the photo, law enforcement is seen with Hernandez-Solorzano and another individual. They said he "and his associate" are in the country illegally.
“We continue to work with our ICE and DOJ partners to keep our communities safe and secure,” they wrote in the social media post.
Last month, the Trump administration invoked the 18th century wartime authority — which has been used only three other times in history, each during times of war — to speedily send more than 200 migrants it says are affiliated with gangs MS-13 and Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua to El Salvador’s notorious megaprison.
The move sparked multiple legal battles, including one regarding a man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was living in Maryland and sent to El Savaldaor, that has captured Washington’s attention. That’s after the administration acknowledged in initial court filings that his deportation was the result of an “administrative error.”
The Supreme Court previously weighed in on the topic earlier this month, deciding that the administration could use the Alien Enemies Act to deport migrants but those at risk of being sent out of the country must be provided “an opportunity to challenge their removal."
