TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — On Thursday, police say a gunman walked through Florida State University's campus firing a handgun, leaving two people dead and at least six others injured.

According to a timeline of the shooting released Friday by the Tallahassee Police Department, between three and four minutes elapsed from the time the first shot was fired to the moment when officers had the alleged shooting in custody.
“What we saw on April 17 was an extraordinary example of teamwork and professionalism in the face of a horrific event,” said TPD Chief Lawrence Revell. “From the moment the call came in, agencies across our region came together seamlessly, sharing information and deploying resources with public safety the top priority. This kind of response doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the result of training, partnerships and a shared commitment to protecting our community.”
Authorities identified the alleged shooter as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, a FSU student and the stepson of a Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Ikner is accused of using his stepmother's previous service weapon in the attack.
