CINCINNATI — Cincinnati city officials are organizing a clean up event for flooded neighborhoods this weekend.
Volunteers will help remove debris and trash left behind as the flood waters recede.
The event is on Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the LeBlond Recreation Center, 2335 Riverside Drive, Cincinnati, 45202.
Volunteers are asked to be prepared for active work, including walking, bending, lifting and moving items and to dress appropriately. Officials said it is important to wear long pants, socks, long sleeves, heavy work gloves and work boots. Residents are asked to not wear open toe shoes.
For those affected by floods, officials said there is help available.
Displaced residents in need of shelter can call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Those who are seeking help with flood clean up can call 211 to have requests shared with local volunteer organizations.
The city is also creating flood clean up kits which include a five-gallon bucket, sponge, hand brush, two sets of handles, mop head, push broom head, squeegee head, brush head, work gloves, rubber gloves, trash bags, face mask and cleaner/degreaser.
To request a clean up kit, call 311. The kits will be available at LeBlond Recreation Center, 2335 Riverside Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45202 on Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
