LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A possible tornado disrupted the homes of several residents on the outskirts of Middletown overnight on Wednesday, April 2. The National Weather Service said they won’t be surveying storm-damaged areas until the weather statewide is more stable.
It’s unclear if a tornado touched down, but several residents, including Lucy Wright, who live at the Stables at English Station said their homes took a hit during the severe weather.
“Just the sound. It sounded like a freight train coming through and at some point, the pressure had changed so much that my ears were just popping and I couldn’t even hear,” Wright said.
Wright is an aspiring meteorologist who never thought she’d be in the path of a tornado. She said Wednesday night’s storms shifted her perspective from being an avid observer to a survivor.
Resident Anthony Gonzalez said he underestimated how quickly things could change.
“I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t take it that seriously just because I’ve never been through it and back in school I’ve done all the drills, but never expected to actually be hit by one but now that we’ve been hit by one, it’s for sure something that we want to take more seriously,” Gonzalez said.
The owner of the apartment complex said about 25 homes were affected by the storm.
