HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Three Orange County sheriff's deputies are in a hospital after being hurt while trying to take a man into custody.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a news release the deputies were responding to a call about a man throwing rocks and bricks in The Timbers manufactured home community.
Authorities say Jorge Lopez Duran was eventually taken into custody and is now facing charges.
All three deputies who were hurt are expected to make a full recovery.
"Law enforcement officers intellectually know their job comes with risk, but the reality of the sacrifice they are willing to make for the public remains somewhat abstract until it is not. Today, their sacrifice was very real, and it was painful. That said, I am grateful all three deputies are expected to make a full recovery," Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a news release.
