ST. CHARLES COUNTY—Rehabilitation work on the Interstate-64 Boone Bridge over the Missouri River is underway. Missouri Department of Transportation is closing up to three lanes in each direction nightly: westbound traffic from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and eastbound traffic from 5 p.m. to 5a.m.
Overnight, the auxiliary lanes will be closed. Outside auxiliary lanes will be closed in both directions to give contractors adequate space to work safely.
MoDOT said this work is part of splitting traffic into the median with both eastbound and westbound lanes to complete the bridge’s rehabilitation. While progressing through the work, MoDOT will maintain three lanes open each way but two of the westbound lanes will shift to the eastbound bridge. They’ll use a barrier wall to separate traffic.
Anyone traveling this area should expect a work zone speed limit of 50 miles-per-hour, narrowed lanes and shifted lanes. MoDOT recommends, if possible, to avoid the area and potentially use the Route 364 Veterans Memorial Bridge to cross between the counties as an alternate route. They expect to see some backups during peak commute times. You can see how up-to-date traffic information by clicking here or for more information on the Boone Bridge project, click here.
