The city’s Department of Environmental Services announced green waste drop-off hours at Kawailoa Transfer Station in Haleiwa will change beginning April 6.

Until April 6, Kawailoa Transfer Station will continue to accept green waste from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, but starting April 6, drop-off hours will change to 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.

Green waste is not accepted Monday through Saturday.

ENV encourages residents to instead take their green waste to Hawaiian Earth Recycling, the city’s contracted green waste recycler, for free disposal. Hawaiian Earth is located between Waialua and Schofield Barracks at 65-1101 Wilikina Drive, roughly 10 miles from Kawailoa.

Hawaiian Earth Recycling accepts green waste from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday. The company also offers compost products; residents should call in advance to confirm.

ENV reminds the public green waste drop-offs are limited to two loads per day via pickup trucks, minivans or automobiles.

Visit the ENV website for more information and alternative disposal locations.
