LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A major development is coming to Lynn Family Stadium. Soccer Holdings, LLC, the owner of Louisville FC revealed plans for ‘Butchertown Apartments,’ featuring 200 upscale apartments built next to Lynn Family Stadium along Cabel Street.
The project includes 128 one-bedroom and 72 two-bedroom apartments to be constructed by LDG Development and Denton Floyd Real Estate Group.
“We feel as if we’re in a great position to be able to utilize the next phase in our development,” said James O’Connor, the president of Soccer Holdings.
The Chair of Soccer Holdings’s Stadium District Development Committee, Shane Uttich said the Butchertown Apartments is the start of building out the area surrounding the stadium.
“We’re happy to announce this is a phase one, a catalyst to the next phase, but I think today’s focus is we give a nice slow clap for this project that’s about to take shape here before our eyes,” Shane Uttich said.
Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, announced he is contributing state funds awarded to Louisville to support the completion of the project, but the exact number has not been determined yet.
“Thanks to some of the $100 million of state funding to invest in downtown Louisville, to create jobs, to create for housing, a portion of that will go toward public parking and public infrastructure in this project,” Mayor Greenberg said.
No official date for grounding breaking has been set, but Greenberg said the sooner the better.
“We hope construction will begin within a year and we want to get heads in beds as soon as possible,” Greenberg said.
The first floor of Butchertown Apartments will have dedicated retail spaces, so it is considered a mixed-use development.
