SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 and the Sumter County Road 475 overpass in Sumter County are temporarily closed Monday because a bridge was hit earlier in the day, the Florida Department of Transportation announced.
Repairs are being made, and FDOT said it expects to open at least one lane of I-75 and the County Road 475 overpass later in the morning.
For now, I-75 northbound is closed from the State Road 44 interchange in Sumter County to the County Road 484 interchange in Marion County. Motorists should detour using U.S. Highway 301 to County Road 484. The County Road 475 overpass is also closed.
The Florida Turnpike northbound is also temporarily closed in the area near I-75 to allow motorists to exit before they reach I-75.
