ST. LOUIS — St. Louis County Executive Sam Page held a press conference Saturday morning to provide an update on the damage caused by the intense storms that ravaged the region Friday night, praising the community's response and laying out the county's plan going forward.

"I do want to recognize that for the past two days, everyone in St. Louis County did a great job of communicating," Page said. "We knew we were going to get bad storms like we hadn't seen in a long time but we were ready. People listened."

One of the major concerns today, however, is the risk downed power lines present for residents, he said. Page is asking anyone who sees downed lines to report them.

There was one report of a possible electrocution in the 3000 block of Wintergreen Drive early Saturday morning. St. Louis County Police said they responded to a call around 12:16 a.m. related to a woman who was found dead in a backyard near electrical lines.

"We're going to be busy today. Last night was about emergency response and getting people safe," Page said. "We're going to spend the rest of the day today and tomorrow with damage assessments. We need people to report…where the damage is."

The county also requested damage assessment teams from Missouri and expect their results within the week. Anyone who wishes to report damage can call 211.

"The most sophisticated damage assessment will be today. That's the usual response. Everyone will be out," he said.

Page also said the county will be working with state and federal agencies to coordinate emergency relief and thanked Mo. Gov. Mike Kehoe for his "quick action yesterday afternoon by making resources available to the Missouri Highway Patrol."
