DURHAM, N.C. — Thousands of customers lost power in Durham on Saturday morning, according to the power outage tracking site poweroutage.us.

Traffic lights were out along Duke Street downtown after a vehicle crash, Durham police said on social media.

Duke Street is closed from Corporation Street to Minerva Avenue, police said, urging drivers to avoid the area.

About 4,600 outages were reported at 11 a.m., but by 6:30 p.m., that number had falled to fewer than 250.
