On Saturday, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont is hosting a bridal pop-up to make weddings a bit more affordable for brides.

The organization said it will be selling hundreds of bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and special occasion dresses. Customers can also purchase shoes in new or gently used condition.

Most gowns at the pop-up will range between $99 and $499, with some new designer dresses costing around $999.

Although Goodwill is not a bridal boutique, Director of Visual Merchandising Scott Schronce said Goodwill is excited to make weddings both magical and more affordable for brides.

“I think this is a means to an end,” Schronce said. “With most of us, we're on budgets and extremely conscious of the money we're spending, [and] this helps that vision.”

The pop-up will embody its own "say yes to the dress" experience, which will include refreshments, giveaways, shared dressing rooms and even flower walls with props to take photos.

“Bring your mom, bring your dad, bring your neighbors, bring your sister,” Schronce said.

Newlywed Cynthia Pettyjohn Jones is one of many brides across the region who found their dream dress at a pop-up sale.

Jones’ dress retailed at $1,200, however, it cost her $500 at Goodwill's pop-up.

"Being able to save on the dress allowed me to help my fiancé with some other expenses for the wedding,” Jones said. “We're all looking for ways to save. Hopefully, you'll find your dream dress too."

Goodwill’s sixth annual Bridal Pop-Up sale will be happening on March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 5301 Wilkinson Blvd.

Sales from the bridal pop-up will benefit Goodwill's tuition-free job training programs across the Charlotte-area community.
