AKRON, Ohio — Valentine’s Day is all about flowers, teddy bears and thoughtful gifts that show loved ones you care.
An attraction in Akron is taking that to a new level, with a scary twist. Cupid’s Revenge will certainly be a night to remember.
The Akron Haunted Schoolhouse is bringing fear and fright instead of hugs and kisses.
“If they can’t scare, make them laugh.” Said Dave Shonk, the creative director of Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory. “We are entertainers. At the end of the day for this event, we’re trying to make you laugh, and if we can’t make you laugh, oh, they will scare you. This year we’re doing Cupid’s Revenge and Space Club.”
The show includes actors and actress with scary and fun costumes. This event is open to singles, couples, groups and families. Giving them all a chance to enjoy the decades old haunted house.
“This show’s really been here for 51 years.” Said John Eslich owner of the Akron haunted schoolhouse and laboratory. “It’s the longest running haunted attraction in the country. That’s never relocated or never missed a season. It is a big deal. We started to see grandkids come. So, it’s very special.” Said Eslich.
The Haunted Schoolhouse was once Thomastown Elementary School. The school closed in 1973.
The Valentine’s Day haunted house is open Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th. The event is open to everyone over 12-years-old.
