MISSOURI—Missouri has certainly made its mark on the silver screen after 39 movie production companies spent over $33 million dollars last year thanks to the state's film incentive program.
The program authorized $12.4 million for all the projects and employed nearly 1,500 Missourians.
“Missouri has seen a marked increase in film and television production since the incentive was implemented, including several projects with budgets of more than $1 million,” said Missouri Film Office Director Andrea Sporcic Klund on mofilm.org.
Some of the more popular series and films produced in Missouri in 20-24 are Hallmark’s “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” Lifetime’s “Girl in the Garage,” A&E’s “Ozark Law” and Max’s “Second Chance Stage.”
“We’re incredibly proud of the Missouri Film Office’s efforts to promote our state as a picture-perfect film location,” said Michelle Hataway, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development on mofilm.org. “The Motion Media Production Tax Incentive is an effective tool in encouraging the creation of exciting, Missouri-made film projects. Every dollar spent in our state, including those related to the film industry, is strengthening our economy and helping Missourians prosper.”
