HONOLULU — A lane will be closed in Chinatown from Sunday night to Monday early morning for the filming of “The Wrecking Crew,” a cop buddy comedy starring Jason Momoa.
From 7 p.m. on Sunday until around 2 a.m. on Monday, the stretch of N. King Street on the makai side of ʻAʻala Park — between the intersection of N. King St. and N. Beretania St. to the west, and N. King St. and River St. to the east — will be open only intermittently for one lane of traffic, according to the Honolulu Film Office.
The public is asked to avoid the area, detouring onto Beretania Street. The cross-streets of River, Maunakea, Smith, Nuʻuanu and Bethel will remain open, allowing the public to travel mauka and makai and cross N. King Street. The dedicated bus lane will also stay open.
The production team for the film will allow traffic on the open travel lane and the bus lane for up to three minutes at a time from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. After that, intermittent traffic holds will increase to 10-minute increments.
