AKRON, Ohio — For those looking to get outside this month, the Akron Zoo is offering several free admission and discounted admission days for visitors.
The zoo is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the offseason.
The first free date is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, aka Election Day. Then, this weekend on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10 the zoo will host Red, White and Zoo Days giving free admission to guests who wear red, white or blue to the zoo.
Veterans Appreciation Day, Nov. 11, will have free admission for all veterans and a 50% discount on admission for immediate family members. A valid military I.D. is required.
The zoo is also offering a discounted admission, $7 per person, for its shopping event, Shop-a-Holidays, on Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event brings more than 60 local vendors throughout the zoo and a craft corner for children will also be available through a partnership with Akron Firestone Visual Arts.
Normal admission rates range from $9 to $19 with children under 2-years-old able to be admitted for free. Parking is also free at the zoo.
