Ready to ghoul all out this Halloween? There are lots of opportunities to do just that for the entire family, as well as get seriously scared at a couple events that are enforcing age restrictions. Looking for an event that welcomes your furry family member? Find a couple of them dedicated to human’s best friend as well! There’s even an opportunity to do some good first and enjoy lots of fun afterwards.

 

Histories & Mysteries Tour

If you’re ready to get spooked, take a walk with expert guides at Honolulu Zoo and learn about eerie supernatural encounters experienced by staff members, 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 18, 25. May not be appropriate for keiki under 8. Tickets.

 

Aloun Farms 22nd Annual Pumpkin Festival

Bring the ʻohana to enjoy a full day of keiki activities, carnival rides, pony ride and petting zoo, free tractor hayrides, food and craft vendors, entertainment, farmers market, sunflowers, plus harvest your own corn, string beans and pumpkins at Aloun Farms Annual Pumpkin Festival, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 19-20 and 26-27. Under the Sea Halloween Hoʻolauleʻa at Sea Life Park

Sea Life Park invites the community to its inaugural Halloween event for a day of keiki-friendly Halloween activities, meet-and-greet with mythical mermaids, live entertainment, food vendors and a costume contest on Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 19-20. Come dressed up for the Halloween costume contest to be held on Saturday only in four categories – infant-5 years, 6-12 years, 13-17 years and best group (three to five people). On both days, Storybook Entertainment will be doing keiki face painting, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and storyteller Robert Lopaka Kapanui will share “Mysteries of Hawaii,” 1:30-2:30 p.m. Fun is included in general admission.

Jack the Hotel Dog’s 4th Birthday Celebration

Bring your canine companion in costume to join a Furry Friends pool party and costume contest to celebrate The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club’s resident pup’s birthday pawty, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 19. Pool Party is 11 a.m.-4 p.m., costume contest is at 4:45 p.m. with registration at 4 p.m.

 

Sustainable Ghostlines Festival

A fun event for the community to give back and enjoy lots in return! Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii hosts its Sustainable Ghostlines Festival at Ali‘iolani Elementary School in Kaimuki, 3-8 p.m. Oct. 19. Get there early, 3-5 p.m., to take part in a cleanup along the streets of Kaimuki or cleanup and native plant restoration along Palolo Stream. Afterwards, take part in the celebration at the community market at Ali‘iolani with live music by Paul Izak & Friends, sustainable vendors, food trucks, free t-shirt screen printing, keiki games, an upcycled costume contest and more! Pawprint Painting Party & Pet Costume Contest

The VCA Gentle Vets Animal Hospital in Hawaii Kai invites the public to create a keepsake of your doggo bestie and enter the costume contest while helping dogs in need, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 19. From 6-8 p.m., create pumpkins in a patch, a rainbow of bouquet flowers, fall leaves on a tree, a holiday wreath, fuzzy spider web and more using paw prints! Costume contest begins at 5:30 p.m. and could win your dog prizes. Proceeds benefit the dogs of K9 Kokua with vet care, hospitalization, surgeries and wellness care for houseless dogs and rescued pups in foster care. Tickets.

 

Makana Kids Halloween Costume Contest

Ka Makana Aliʻi welcomes keiki to take part in its Halloween Costume Contest starting at 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Registration is 3-5 p.m. Studio 808 Danceproject will open and close the show. On Oct. 31, bring the keiki back for a Halloween Magic Show, 5:30-6 p.m., and trick-or-treating at participating stores, 6-7:30 p.m.

 

“1706” – The Masked Ones

The creators of Haunted Plantation bring this walk-through theatrical horror experience back by demand to Hawaii Theatre Center, various times Oct. 21-22, 28-30. Submit yourself to a master hypnotist and watch as he raises the dead with his skill! Absolutely no one under the age of 18 will be allowed. Valid ID card must be shown and a waiver must be signed. Tickets.

 

Ghobake (Ghost + Obake) Stories with Aunty Ipo

Hawaii storyteller, folklorist and shaman Moira “Ipo” Maeda-Nakamine will share stories based on true events that have been experienced by Aunty Ipo herself, her family members or close friends at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, 7 p.m. Oct. 22. Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, the question is are you open to it? Not advised for children under 12 years of age. $12 tickets.

 

Hauntopia at Da Dream Lab

Families are invited to a guided haunted walking tour through themed rooms with surprises, trick-or-treat stops and interactive art and science activities, 5-9 p.m. Oct. 24-30. Not meant to be spooky, tours are 1.5 hours long available in time slots. Ages 2 and under are free; parent or legal guardian must accompany keiki 14 and under. Annual Halloween Costume Contest

Kahala Mall hosts its annual Halloween Costume Contest and makes it easy for parents with no registration, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Participants can just line up by age groups at a designated assembly time and each will receive a mini backpack of treats. On Oct. 31, bring your costumed keiki back for mall-wide trick-or-treating, 5-6:30 p.m., with tons of treats, festive decorations and a live DJ in Center Court.

 

Lopaka Kapanui: Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Hawaii’s premier ghost storyteller invites the audience to enter the world of the supernatural for an evening of spine-chilling ghost stories from ancient legends to modern encounters, Honolulu Museum of Art, 7-9 p.m. Oct. 25. Tickets.

 

Halloween Celebration & Pumpkin Patch

Ward Village will offer up a spook-tacular celebration at the South Shore Market Courtyard with a pumpkin patch, face painting, caricature drawings, festive photo opportunities, yummy pumpkin spice malasadas and more, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 26.

 

Trunk ‘N Treat at Mililani YMCA

Open to the public, this family-friendly event offers free activities — trunk & treat trick-o-treating, costume and “car-stume” contest and food trucks with food for purchase, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Activity stamp cards are available $20+fees presale or $25 on event day that will get you into the arts and crafts booth, carnival games, bounce house and inflatables, a haunted house, face painting and more perks. Boo Zoo Halloween by Storybook Station

Bring the family for all treats, no tricks at this fun-filled event at Windward Mall’s Center Court, 5-7 p.m. Oct. 26. Enjoy games, a scavenger hunt, character performances and more.

 

Halloween Double Header at TAG

The Actor’s Group presents its 1st Annual Halloween double-header event — A Dark Night Production of “The Scary Question” and “A Game,” 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26-27. What would you do with a zombie apocalypse on the horizon? That’s the premise behind “The Scary Question” by Wayne S. Rawley, directed by Pedro. “A Game” is a psychological drama by Dennis E. Noble and directed by Pedro in which a human’s desire to possess more “causes hatred and starts wars.” TAG performs at The Brad Powell Theatre located at Dole Cannery, 650 Iwilei Rd., Suite 101. Hawaii Ghost Stories: A Symphony Spooktacular!

Hear music by the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and stories read by “HI Now Daily” Lauren Teruya that will send shivers down your spine and delight your imagination at Hawaii Theatre Center, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 4 p.m. Oct. 27 (family-friendly version). Hallow-ZOO SCAREvenger Hunt

Guess where all the little ghouls and goblins should be? Dressed in their Halloween best at Honolulu Zoo for a day of fun, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 27. Follow the clues to track down the zoo’s bird ʻohana and collect creature stamps along the way and take the Haunted Habitat Treat Trail for trick-or-treating at 15 doors. There will also be activity stations, Creepy Conservation partners and more. All the fun is included with admission to Honolulu Zoo.

 

 

Keiki Halloween Costume Contest & Center-wide Trick-or-Treating

Royal Hawaiian Center’s popular keiki costume contest is back in The Royal Grove, 2-6 p.m. Oct. 27. Infants to keiki 10 years of age and their parents are invited to compete for prizes in four categories — ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-10, and ʻohana costumes (parent and child costume combo, infant to 10 years). Keiki can only enter a single category; onsite registration closes at 3:45 p.m. Participating merchants will also hand out Halloween treats, noon-6 p.m.

 

Haunted Halloween at International Market Place

Keiki can enjoy free trick-or-treating around the mall on levels 1, 2 and 3, costumed characters, a balloon artist on level 2, and free face painting and caricatures on level 3 while supplies last, 4-6 p.m. Oct. 31. Adults can drop by a transformed Tiki Bar to imbibe custom-crafted drinks, 6 p.m.-midnight Oct. 18, 29, 25, 26.

 

Ala-Ween Spooktacular

Over 100 merchants throughout Ala Moana Center will hand out candy and other surprises to keiki, 4-7 p.m. Oct. 31. In the Ewa Wing Court, join in a bubble-filled dance party hosted by The Hawaii DJ, enjoy free custom balloon creations by Adventure Balloons and take a Halloween photo at the haunted house selfie wall.

Pearlridge Center hosts an indoor trick-or-treat event for keiki at participating merchants throughout Mauka and Wai Makai, plus a keiki costume contest, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Dress up in your best Halloween costume for an evening of trick-or-treating throughout Windward Mall, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

 

Tiki’s Annual Waikiki Halloween Bash

After strutting your stuff up and down Kalakaua Avenue, head over to Tiki’s Grill & Bar for drink specials, a live band at 8 p.m. and DJ spinning 10 p.m.-closing, Oct. 31. Ages 21 and over only. $20 in advance or $35 at the door.

 

3rd Annual Twin Fin Halloween

Hawaiian Brian’s hosts a night of music, costumes and fun with live performances at the HB Social Club by Twin Fin, SoCherry and Scott Levi Jones with a DJ spinning spooky tunes, 8-11:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Dress up for the costume contest and a chance to win prizes – Best Group (four people), Best Couple and Best Individual. Tickets.
