DARLINGTON, S.C. — Following the devastation from Hurricane Helene and the anticipated threat of Hurricane Milton, Darlington Raceway opened its East Campground to evacuees, at no charge.

The NASCAR track is offering the space as a safe destination for those needing a place to bring trailers, campers and vehicles to escape the impact of the storms.

The East Campground offers complimentary shower, and restroom access, as well as water and electrical hookups for RVs. An adjacent dry camping area will also be open for those with tents and pop-up campers.

“Darlington Raceway is committed to helping our friends across the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and surrounding states during this time of need,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. “We hope to provide a sense of relief by offering a place to stay for evacuees during this time of adversity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is suffering as a result of these storms.”

Any pets must remain on leashes at all times while on the property. No livestock or commercial vehicles are allowed.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, Darlington Raceway will host a Track Laps for Charity from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fans will have the chance to drive their personal vehicles on the track for a $25 donation.

All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by Hurricane Helene.
