The coaster, named Siren's Curse, is named after the lore of mysterious creatures that are said to be living in Lake Erie — talked about, but never seen before. The siren in particular is believed to have lured sailors to their demise with sweet songs, the park said,

Siren's Curse will have riders ascending an old 160-foot-tall Lake Erie shipping crane tower, and with it comes eerie sounds as it gets closer to the top. Then, the creaking platform holding the train will slow tilt to a 90-degree vertical position, then will take riders straight down a twisted track.

There will be 2,966 feet of track with a top speed of 58 mph, the park said. Additionally, there will be integrated audio and LED lighting on each car.

“Record-breaking thrills have always been at the heart of Cedar Point’s roller coaster lineup, and Siren’s Curse lives up to that standard,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point, in a release. “The entire ride is an experience filled with non-stop action, but that first precarious tilted position where you’re hanging on – looking straight down – and waiting for the track to connect will be a signature moment our fans will love. It’s a first-of-its kind for Cedar Point and we’re thrilled to bring it to our guests.”

Siren's Curse will be the 19th roller coaster for Cedar Point. Take a peek at the renderings below:
