New York City Restaurant week starts Monday and actually lasts about a month until Aug. 18. The event started over 30 years ago and happens twice a year, in the summer and winter.
More than 600 participating restaurants offer two course lunches and three course dinners ranging from $30, $45 and $60.
Restaurants do not take part on Saturdays, and Sundays are optional.
“We have 62 million — just over 62 million — tourists that came last year, so we are seeing that normal return to our patterns,” Tiffany Townsend, executive vice president of global communications at NYC Tourism + Conventions, said on “Weekends on 1” Sunday about the city’s recovery from the COVID pandemic.
LouLou, a restaurant in Chelsea, opened two weeks before COVID and will be participating for the first time. Mathias Van Leyden, the owner of LouLou, says they welcome any opportunity to get new patrons.
“Business is a little down in the summers, so it’s good to have more reservations,” Van Leyden said.
