Thousands lined the streets of Manhattan Sunday morning as the 67th annual Puerto Rican Day Parade stepped off in Midtown.

The route for one of the city's largest parades began on 44th Street, marching up Fifth Avenue to 79th Street.

Organizers said the theme for this year's event was "Puerto Rican in My Heart." The festivities celebrated the culture, history and achievements of Puerto Rican Americans.

More than 50 people were honored for their efforts in the arts, education, sports and activism. Many paradegoers were members of different Puerto Rican cultural groups who turned out to show their pride in their heritage.

"My heart is full. I'm just so super proud. I love to represent my department, I love to represent Puerto Rico and I love to represent the women, the Latinas, the strong Latinas we have in this department," Jessica Rivera, a detective with NYPD Hispanic Society, said.

This year's grand marshals were salsa singer Tito Nieves, actor Ramon Rodriguez and singer/composer Lisa Lisa.
