ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A live wrestling rock 'n roll musical is kicking off its East Coast tour in Rochester. "The Last Match: A Pro Wrestling Rock Experience" is adrenaline-filled action and singing set to original 80s-inspired rock music.

What You Need To Know

  •  The Last Match is a fusion of pro wrestling, musical theater and live rock

  •  It's an all ages show

  • The cast includes wrestling icon and 24-time champion Mickie James along with WWE tag team champion and commentator Matthew Rehwoldt

Wrestling fans will recognize some of the cast including pro wrestling legend and TNA Knockouts and WWE champion Mickie James. James is also a recording artist, so she is thrilled to be a part of this musical.

“I really think that wrestling itself and theater is meant to be family-friendly where there is something for everyone. This is very much like it. It reminds me a lot of the wrestling I grew up on. It was fun for the whole family because there was something for the kids and something for the wives and something for the husbands. There was something for everybody that everybody loved. That’s what this is and it’s bringing me back to my childhood fandom of wrestling,” said James.

The ring is the stage and the stage is the battleground as any wrestling fan knows. The ring is just part of the set for the performance at Temple Theater in Rochester. The performers make their way up, around and into the ring to give the audience a front-row seat to all the action.

WWE pro wrestling tag team champion and commentator Matthew Rehwoldt, a.k.a. The Drama King, is the "boss."

“The boss is not only in charge of the business, but they are in charge of the creative. They decide who is winning and who is losing and who is going to be the next champion and is leaving,” said Rehwoldt. “You may not be a wrestling devotee but if you go to a live show i guarantee you will have a good time.”

Creator and director Jeremiah James is a Palmyra, New York native. He wanted to start the tour in Rochester.

There are 18, all-ages shows scheduled on the tour. The first nine are in Rochester with stops at eight more cities on its way to the final show in Atlanta. Tickets are on sale now, click here.
