Despite being 91 years old, Hyman Silverglad fought off a would-be-mugger who attempted to steal his wallet last Thursday.

“I was born in Coney Island. We don’t give up money easily,” Hyman said. “All of a sudden, I see a shadow out of one of my eyes and the next second, someone is on top of me holding my shoulders."

As police continue their investigation, Hyman is recovering at Mount Sinai from the attack which left him with six broken ribs and hematoma of the liver.

“I had to walk on my knees to my home,” Hyman said.

Normally a three-minute walk home, Hyman said it took him 15 minutes on his knees.

Along the way, he said he screamed for help as he crawled to his Upper East Side apartment.

“Pedestrians are walking by, and they don’t do anything,” Hyman said.

He eventually found help outside of his building. That’s where he said two women helped him inside and called his son James.

James is asking for the public’s help to find his father’s attacker.

“He’s not going to stop with my dad, so let’s get him off the streets,” James said.

James said he moved to the city to help take care of his elderly father.

With Hyman’s injuries, James said it may be a long road ahead for his dad.

“If he moves his body even a little bit, or has to reach for something, he screams out in pain,” James said.

But despite the pain, Hyman said he’d fight back again.

“He ran away so fast, I thought I was watching a track star,” Hyman said.
