ST. LOUIS—Former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright will join FOX Sports as an analyst for Major League Baseball games in the regular season and the postseason, the network announced Thursday.

Wainwright pitched 18 seasons for the Cardinals before retiring at the end of the 2023 campaign with 200 career wins.

The move was expected, as Wainwright has been part of the network’s postseason coverage in recent years.

“For more than a decade, Adam has been one of baseball’s biggest and most successful stars both on and off the field,” FOX Sports President of Production and Operations Brad Zager said in a statement announcing the multi-year deal. “His connection not only to fans in St. Louis but really across the entire sport is what makes him a perfect fit at FOX Sports. As he transitions to the next phase of his career, we are looking forward to him entertaining and educating viewers from the booth all season long.”

The network said one of his assignments would find him in the booth for MLB’s return to London in June when the New York Mets face the Philadelphia Phillies. Wainwright pitched in London for the Cardinals in a series last year against the Cubs.

“I’m excited to join the FOX Sports family,” Wainwright said. “I love the game of baseball, and I really enjoy talking about the chess match that goes on between the pitcher and the hitter. Hopefully, my experience on the field will allow me the opportunity to share the game I love in a unique and deep way, bringing viewers closer to the game.”

Wainwright will also continue to grow his musical career. On Thursday, Wainwright was added as an opening act for Zac Brown Band at Chaifetz Arena April 6 in a performance to benefit Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital
