Parents of students at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn demanded answers Tuesday after the school was placed under an hours-long lockdown following the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy inside.

“I want my son. I want to take my son home,” parent Zoila Llangari told NY1.

The NYPD says that at around 9:30 a.m., a student stabbed a fellow student in the stomach with a knife before running off.

The victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is expected to be fine.

Students were finally dismissed at 3:30 p.m. Some were seen cheering after they say they remained in classrooms as police investigated.

“Lady tells us to get in the classroom. We get in. We’re on hold then. Back on hold. Then rest of day, we’re on hold. We got no food,” student Anthony Spencer said.

Spencer said that students had to get searched after the incident.

“People had to get searched. All that looking for someone who wasn’t even in the school, which I find crazy,” Spencer said.

Frustrated parents and students say the principal communicated poorly and did not alert them until 2 hours after the incident.

“NYPD is currently conducting an investigation and our community had a lock and hold as NYPD are currently in our building,” principal Alan Barge wrote in an email.

Barge also wrote that “every precaution was taken and will continue to be taken to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”

Parent Yolanda Washington told NY1 that she thought the school had good security and was concerned to hear about Tuesday's incident.

“I want to talk to the school because they stressed the security was tight. You can’t even go out for lunch. So how people getting in here unknown or that is in here with a weapon?” Washington said.

The NYPD says they have a person of interest in custody. Sources say the suspect is also 15 years old.
