In “Billionaires Row,” author Katherine Clarke dives into the New York real estate market with a fly-on-the-wall-account of the race to build supertall apartment buildings along Central Park South.
Early on in the book, she even gives a warning to readers, saying, “The world of ultra-luxury real estate development is not for the faint of heart. It’s a blood sport.”
Clarke, who has covered the New York real estate for more than a decade, said the high stakes world of supertall buildings is very much akin to the “Wild West.”
“These guys who build these buildings, they don’t answer to public share holders. They’re mostly private companies, and they are comfortable with a level of risk that normal people like you and I would never be,” Clarke said.
Tune in Thursday morning on NY1, when the next guest in the "Mornings On 1 Authors Week" series stops by.
