Tributes for NY1 anchor Ruschell Boone poured in from all around the city Tuesday.
Ruschell died Sunday because of complications related to pancreatic cancer. She was 48.
Mayor Eric Adams paid tribute to Ruschell Tuesday in an interview with NY1’s Cheryl Wills, calling Ruschell a friend and saying she was "the heart and soul of the greatest city on the globe."
"There were so many stories in her life, from being an immigrant, pursuing her dreams of going to the various events and making New Yorkers feel special. She made us all feel special," Mayor Adams said.
New York Attorney General Letitia James and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams also honored Ruschell Boone Tuesday in an interview with Cheryl.
"We're all shedding a tear for our good friend Ruschell, and it's really saddened my day, saddened my spirit, but when I close my eyes, I can see her face and I can hear her laughter, and I know that she's no longer in pain, and I know that her memories will live on forever," James said.
"Ruschell was ours. She was our Queens borough reporter when nobody else cared about Queens," Speaker Adams said.
"Ruschell did stories that some would want to sweep under the rug," Speaker Adams added. "Ruschell was our truth-teller for Queens."

I am so saddened by the passing of Ruschell whom I’ve enjoyed watching over the years. She reminded me of myself being a fellow immigrant from the Caribbean and coming to New York as a young girl. She was also my age. It makes me appreciate this precious life and live it to the fullest like Ruschell seemed to do. Thank you Ruschell. -Terry Scotland
