ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disneyland Resort's new "World of Color – One" show will feature characters, music and moments from "Coco," "Soul," "Encanto," and other movies from Disney's vast Marvel Avengers and "Star Wars" franchise when the new nighttime spectacular debuts at Disney California Adventure for the company's 100th anniversary later this month.
Disneyland officials said the new show "celebrates how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change."
The nightly water and light show at Disney California Adventure highlight how an action can impact people and the world, similar to how Walt Disney – 100 years ago – created a vast media and entertainment empire that continues to grow.
Walt Disney and his brother, Roy, founded the Walt Disney Co. in Hollywood in Oct. 1923.
"This immersive journey builds to an emotional and uplifting finale that highlights how, when we come together and combine our efforts, many drops can become an ocean," said Kelsey Lynch, a public relations director at Disneyland Resort, in the company's official Parks Blog. "You'll walk away feeling inspired to start a ripple of your own and be the one to make a wave for the future."
As Disneyland Resort prepares for the Walt Disney Co.'s 100th-anniversary year-long celebration later this month, the Anaheim theme park has begun teasing visitors about what's to come.
The company has already announced that it will have a multifaceted cross-company 100-year birthday bash across its portfolio.
But Disneyland President Ken Potrock previously said the Anaheim theme parks will be "the heart of this celebration." Disneyland is considered the granddaddy of Disney's theme parks, opening in 1955.
The anniversary festivities kick off on Jan. 27. It will feature a dressed-up Disney California Adventure and Disneyland with Sleeping Beauty Castle in platinum decorations, the return of the Magic Happens daytime parade, a new attraction called Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway ride, and a newly renovated Toontown.
On Thursday, Disneyland released some details on one of the theme park's new nighttime spectaculars, "World of Color – One," at Disney California Adventure, slated to debut on Jan. 27.
Last month, Disney unveiled information on Disneyland's new nighttime fireworks show for the 100th celebration.
"Wondrous Journeys," Disneyland officials said, would feature a new original song called "It's Wondrous" and play and project snippets of every film released by the studio in the past century on the facade of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, it's a small world building, and the Rivers of America.
Disneyland officials said the new "World of Color - One" will have 18 different compositions, including a new, original song, "Start a Wave," written by Grammy-nominated artist Cody Fry and sung by Loren Allred.
As the music plays, snippets of Disney movies will be projected on water screens that can span up to 380 feet across an artificial lake.
Disneyland officials also announced the new "World of Color - One" show would use a virtual queue system, only available via the Disneyland app, for visitors wanting to watch the show in a reserved section. Walk-ups are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
