The New York Stock Exchange is about to celebrate its 230th year, and its president is about to complete her first year in the role. 

For Women Wednesday, NY1 anchor Annika Pergament sat down with Lynn Martin at the New York Stock Exchange to learn more about how she’s working to bring more women into the financial sector and what’s in store for the markets after a very volatile year.

Martin says that while the IPO market ground to a halt earlier this year, there are many companies in the pipeline that want to go public — they’re just looking for the right time.

Martin’s advice for women: “Number one, you can never over-communicate.”

She and other leaders are also making a concerted effort to bring more women through the companies and organizations she works with.

Looking forward, Martin is optimistic because of all the innovations that she sees coming to the market.
