BUFFALO, N.Y. — The demolition of the Great Northern Grain Elevator will continue after a petition to save it was denied.
The historic building was damaged in a wind storm a little more than a year ago and conservation groups have fought to protect it since.
Despite these efforts, a judge on the Fourth District Court of Appeals denied a preliminary junction.
The judge says the group trying to save the structure could not provide clear and convincing evidence it could continue to stand safely.
Crews started to demolish the site on Ganson Street along the Buffalo River in September. The process could take up to eight months, according to City of Buffalo officials.
