A Queens man was arraigned on manslaughter and assault charges after he allegedly punched another man on a subway platform, sending the man onto the tracks, where he was fatally struck by a train, prosecutors said Wednesday. 

Carlos Garcia, 50, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault on Tuesday in connection with 48-year-old Heriberto Quintana’s death, a complaint filed with the Queens District Attorney’s office shows.

Garcia and Quintana, also of Queens, were on the northbound F train platform at the Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights subway station around 4:45 p.m. on Monday when they bumped into each other, the NYPD said. 

The collision sent Garcia’s cellphone flying onto the tracks, leading to a fight between the two men, police said. At some point during the fight, Garcia punched Quintana in the face, causing Quintana to fall onto the tracks, where a train hit him, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Quintana, who suffered severe body trauma, was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said. 

Garcia was taken into custody Monday evening and is expected to appear in court again on Oct. 21, the DA’s office said. 

His attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Wednesday morning.
