Bryant Goodwin is a self-proclaimed “fanatic of fireworks” but had an accident when playing with them. He lost two of his fingers and broke other bones.

Most fireworks are illegal in New York. 

Dr. Michael Cooper, a critical care surgery specialist at Northwell Hospital on Staten Island, treated Goodwin and shared the repercussions of the accident.

It is a lifelong injury and Dr. Cooper said Goodwin is lucky to be alive.

Both men encourage people to leave the fireworks to the professionals. They are dangerous and could lead to serious injury or even loss of life.
