The Republican gubernatorial candidates hoping to earn their party's nomination will participate in a Spectrum News debate Monday night at 7 p.m.
Rep. Lee Zeldin, selected by the state party as their preferred candidate, will be joined by businessman and onetime comptroller candidate Harry Wilson, former Westchester County executive and 2014 GOP nominee for governor Rob Astorino, and former Trump administration official Andrew Giuliani.
NY1 is requiring all candidates coming into the studio to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Giuliani, the son of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, has refused to get the shot and will participate remotely.
With early voting already underway, each candidate will be making their case to New York's Republican voters as to why they have the best shot against the eventual Democratic nominee. Democrats are choosing between Gov. Kathy Hochul, Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
At their last debate, on CBS, the Republican candidates argued who was the most conservative, declared their views on former President Donald Trump's role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and criticized the abortion protections recently signed into law by Hochul.
Spectrum News' New York political team will be live blogging throughout the debate, offering insight and analysis of the race.
