The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol is held its third public hearing on Thursday.

The proceedings focused on former President Donald Trump's efforts to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to reject the electoral account to help overturn the results of the 2020 election.

"What the president wanted the vice president to do was not just wrong; it was illegal and unconstitutional," said vice chair Liz Cheney.
