Local, state and federal officials rallied alongside union and business leaders Thursday to sell the Democratic Party on the merits of New York City.

They contended the city would be the best host for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

“This is the best way to make this convention a success,” said Rep. Adriano Espaillat. “So start spreading the news!”

Andrew Kimball, president of the city’s Economic Development Corporation said, “It is my pleasure to announce that New York City under Mayor Adams’ direction and leadership will officially be submitting our bid to the DNC today, ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.”

Adams, like Bill de Blasio before him, wants to host the massive nominating convention, arguing that delegates and other guests will get to experience New York’s post-pandemic revival.

“We are watching a decrease in shootings, a decrease in murders. We are on the right path, New York,” Adams said.

The bid is centered on Manhattan.

Madison Square Garden is proposed as the central convention site with the Javits Center playing a supporting role.

Boosters gathered at One Vanderbilt for the announcement Thursday boasted that New York has the finest in lodging and dining the country has to offer.

“I love this city and I just really feel sorry for other cities that want to compete with us,” Adams said. “We are so ready. This is the place to be.”

Atlanta, Chicago and Houston are among those vying for the 2024 convention.

De Blasio’s bid to have New York host the 2016 convention was focused on Brooklyn, where there are fewer hotels and other amenities.

Philadelphia was the host selected that year.

New York state is also bidding for an earlier date on the 2024 federal primary calendar.

“We are competing for one of the five spots to be an early primary,” Brooklyn Assembly Member Latrice Walker said.

But what about the street crime and so-called quality-of-life concerns that Adams has been spotlighting since he took office?

NY1 asked if it would hurt the bid to host.

“No, it’s not,” the mayor responded. “People are going to realize the resiliency of the city. We have the best police department on the globe.”

Kimball said later in the event, “This is a national security event that brings law enforcement from every level of government.”

New York City last hosted the DNC convention in 1992, when Bill Clinton was nominated for president.

It hosted the Republican National Convention in 2004.

Adams himself has been floated as a potential candidate for president in 2024.

He responded to the speculation by saying he’s already been president, borough president of Brooklyn.
