It's Mets season all year long inside Lisa Kest-Fein's Flushing home. From books to bobbleheads, photographs and other memorabilia, the decor inside her apartment is a shrine of sorts to her beloved team.

"It's just fun," she said. "When people come in, they see all the things that I have and they're like, 'Wow, wow.'"

Kest-Fein has been a Mets fan her whole life. She grew up going to games with her father at Shea Stadium.

What You Need To Know

  • The Mets are headed into their home opener with the best record in baseball

  • They are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year

  • The team is honoring Tom Seaver, considered the greatest Mets player ever, with a statue at Citi Field

"The place would rock. And the whole stadium would literally shake," she recalled. "You could feel the energy in the stadium and from the fans."

A piece of Shea actually hangs in her living room: an original seat back from the upper deck. She was there for the team's first home opener at Citi Field 13 years ago.

Now, with her Mets manicure and dressed in one of her favorite jerseys — basically dressed in Mets gear from head to toe — Kest-Fein is ready for another season at Citi Field. She is also more than ready for a winning season.

"A third World Series. It's in there. It's in there,” Kest-Fein said.

Lots of Mets fan are excited about this team. There is some nervousness too, with pitcher Jacob deGrom sidelined for at least four weeks with a shoulder injury. But overall, many Mets fans like the moves the new management has made.

"This is a good team. Balanced, you know, power pitching. You know, the mid-relief, end relief we'll see,” Mets fan Paul Cimino said.

"A great lineup from top to bottom. We've got four, five guys that can hit 20-plus homers. That's incredible,” Mets fan Louis Ferro added.

Like so many Mets fans, Kest-Fein has been disappointed before. But once again, a new season brings news hope.

"Hope all the key players are in good health," she said. "And I am just hoping for a good season. Potential to be in the playoffs and to have a good ending."
