It has been about a year and a half since TV and film production in the city reopened after shutting down for a few months in 2020 during the start of the pandemic.

Before the pandemic, in 2019, the industry reached some record numbers. TV and film production supported more than 185,000 jobs and $18 billion in wages. The industry was also responsible for almost $82 billion in total economic output, according to a report the city released last year.

But the industry has been rebounding. The commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Anne del Castillo, joined NY1 to discuss.
