A generous gift this holiday season for seniors who live in Harlem.

Spectrum awarded $8,000 to the First Corinthian Baptist Church as part of its digital education grant program.

The money will go towards the Senior Connect program at the Dream Center, which was founded by the church.

"Hundreds of seniors each and every year close the digital divide. It helps build a sense of community," said Desiree Elder, executive visionary of Dream Center. "We do programs around teaching them how to do Google, how to create holiday cards electronically, how to do recipes, all types of things that help to close that digital divide."

"It helps them be able to connect to each other, connect to their community, access resources, because for many of them, they didn't grow up online, so being able to get the critical things that they need requires the internet, and that is what this program is doing, and I am so excited that Spectrum has stepped up to help our community," said Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin.

The First Corinthian Baptist Church is a recipient of the grant for the second year in a row.

Spectrum is the parent company of NY1.
