With just a few days before the mayoral election, republican candidate for mayor Curtis Sliwa isn't backing down, despite being the political underdog.

NY1 Criminal Justice Reporter Dean Meminger hit the streets and a park in Hunts Point in the Bronx with Sliwa. The playground was the site where a thirteen-year-old shot and injured another thirteen-year-old on October 7.

Sliwa discussed preventing crime as well as police accountability.

The founder of the Guardian Angels said, if he is elected mayor, he would pay NYPD officers to turn in rogue cops.

“If somebody is going to be a confidential informant, which is what you need not only amongst criminals but amongst cops, we’ve got to take care of them," said Sliwa. "We’ve got to reward them, you give them money. If necessary, you put them in the witness protection program, them and their families. That’s how we broke the back of organized crime."
