NEW YORK — The city medical examiner's office announced Wednesday that the death of a 12-year-old Brooklyn boy last month — whose parents said was bullied —  was due to natural causes.

The medical examiner said Wednesday that Romy Vilsaint died of an ulcer disease and an infection.

Vilsaint died at the hospital back on May 7 after complaining of head pain. His family claimed his death was the cause of bullying at school, saying Vilsaint had been beaten up and hit in the head.

They held a rally calling for an independent investigation into the city education department.

But police said when they responded to the Vilsaint home in May there was no visible signs of trauma, and the medical examiner's office confirmed that last month.
