Kaia Santana says she drove from Vermont to Westchester County on Wednesday to show her support for DMX.
The legendary rapper was placed on life support over the weekend following a heart attack that sources have linked to a drug overdose.
“I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York and grew up with him and he’s just a good guy. He deserves all the love he is getting right now,” she said.
Fans and friends stopped by White Plains Hospital to light a candle and say a prayer.
Ralphy Jesus Salas Jr. says he flew in from Miami, and he tells us he met DMX growing up when they both lived in a group home in Dobbs Ferry called Children’s Village.
“I want you to know that X is the most beautiful person, the most giving person, I love him for Earl, not for Dmx. I love him for Earl Simmons. I spent a lot of time with, we grew up as friends, as brothers,” he said.
Tina Green says she drove from Central Islip on Long Island, and felt it was important to bring her daughters here to pray too.
Green says the rappers songs have helped her get through some difficult times in her life.
“Just seeing him go through personal struggles, people in my family have been through those struggles as well with substance abuse so it was just important like I said that I be here,” said Green.
Santana meantime says her four-and-half hour drive from Vermont was well worth it to be closer to the rapper.
“Him as a person, you always see how he talks about God and brings that to the people and you know just reminds everyone about goodness and he has a lot of goodness in him. He really does, and he just has some things he’s trying to go through,” said Santana.
Sources have said that DMX was working on a new project before being hospitalized.
