For 11 year-old Abigail Abraham, the fresh snowfall is a welcome break from too many days spent indoors, behind a computer screen.
“We’re making a snowman to laugh. And when we go home we’re going to remember this snowman,” said Abraham.
Sunday’s storm dumped about a half-foot of snow on Elmhurst, Queens, creating prime snowman making conditions.
“We’re making a snowman and we’re trying to make it big,” said eight year-old Jacob Wuntu.
We counted at least 13 snowmen in the six acre park.
“If you look at every different corner of the park, everybody is building their own kind of snowman. Or they’re sledding. It was a nice Sunday. We don’t want to let it go to waste,” said Donnie Kairupan, an Elmhurst resident.
Walid Shaharul didn’t want to let the fresh powder go to waste either.
“It’s pretty nice for what it is. It’s usually the next day where it gets a little dirty and it’s not really fun to be out,” said Shaharul, an Elmhurst resident.
And for photographers, the winter wonderland made the perfect backdrop for an Instagram worthy shot.
“Just for fun we’re taking some pictures and having fun with the snow,” said Yuvraj Bsattarai, an Elmhurst resident.
Making this a successful snow-bowl Sunday in Elmhurst.
