NEW YORK - The city welcomed the first baby born in the five boroughs in 2021.

The City’s public health system announced that a boy named Jaxel Rodriguez, born in Brooklyn’s Coney Island Hospital, was the first baby of the New Year.

He was born at exactly 12 a.m. this morning and weighs six pounds, one ounce and measures 19 inches.

Jaxel was born to parents Ivett Rodriguez and Antonio Guilbert. The baby boy is the couple’s third child.

The family lives in Brooklyn and say they “have the best gift of the new year.”
