To mark the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks this Friday, Tunnel to Towers is holding its annual 5K Run & Walk virtually. This, of course, is due to coronavirus concerns.

The Tunnel to Towers CEO, Frank Siller, whose brother Stephen was one of the 343 members of the FDNY killed during the attacks, said along with the "Never Forget Virtual Challenge," the foundation is also holding a live reading of the names ceremony. There will be two special guests this year, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence.

"We're proud that even though the 9/11 Memorial decided not to do it, we're going to do it, the Tunnel to Towers foundation because our first responsibility is to make sure we never forget. And that's why on September 11, we're going to be reading the names out loud, in person, on that day, and we're going to make sure it's done every year,” Siller said in an interview with NY1’s Roma Torre.

Earlier this summer, the foundation stepped in when the 9/11 Memorial & Museum cancelled its Tribute in Lights ceremony, and agreed to hold its own version.

Because the original one is back on, the foundation is planning to hold tributes at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania -- for the first time ever.
