NEW YORK - The city is under a tropical storm warning as Tropical Storm Isaias makes its way up the east coast after hitting Florida over the weekend.
Rain will begin Monday night and then become heavy at times Tuesday.
The heaviest rain will fall from late morning until early afternoon.
The city could see two to four inches of rain to fall, and will lead to areas of street and subway flooding and possible closures.
Isaias is expected to head toward the Carolinas Monday night.
The storm was downgraded from a hurricane but gained some strength overnight.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says the state anticipates power outages.
Residents are being asked to have a week’s supply of water, food, and medicine on hand.
Authorities in Florida closed beaches and virus testing sites as a precaution.
Personal Protective Equipment, generators, bottled water, and food will be handed out to those in need.
Officials are concerned with how to prepare shelters for those who need refuge while maintaining social distancing.
President Donald Trump approved an emergency declaration for the state.
