Organizers of a Black Lives Matter protest in Union Square that attracted dozens of supporters say they believe their First Amendment right to protest is under attack.

Some of the co-organizers told NY1 they had two main goals: to keep up the momentum of having daily protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and to not only encourage people to vote in November, but to inspire protesters to rise up with mass demonstrations to end what they consider a fascist administration.

“Everybody needs to be out on the streets,” said Travis Morales, a co-organizer from Brooklyn. “If you have an ounce of compassion in your heart, if you can’t stand to see the continuing murder of Black people, you need to be out on the streets. But that’s gotta be part of demanding Trump, Pence out now.”

“We are saying it is actually absolutely essential that Black Lives Matter,” said Emma Kaplan, a co-organizer with NYC Revolution Club. “Every struggle for justice takes up the demand Trump, Pence out now.”
