Police have arrested a man they said slashed a 2-year-old boy in the face in Manhattan earlier this week.

35-year-old Anthony Gonzalez of Manhattan was charged Friday with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The boy was attacked around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at West 110th Street and Morningside Drive in Morningside Heights.

Police said the suspect approached the toddler and cut him above his right eye with an unknown sharp object before fleeing the scene.

The child was treated at a local hospital for a laceration. He was expected to recover.

No motive in the attack has been confirmed as of this writing.
