NEW YORK - Celebrity chef Floyd Cardoz has died, due to complications from coronavirus.
Cardoz rose to fame in 2011 after winning season three of "Top Chef Masters".
He used his $110,000 winnings to support the Young Scientist Cancer Research fund at Mount Sinai Hospital.
He went on to operate several restaurants both in his native India and here in the city.
Cardoz may have contracted the virus while traveling from Mumbai to New York through Frankfurt on March 8.
On March 17, he posted this picture of himself in a New York hospital, saying he admitted himself after feeling feverish.
He then tested positive for COVID-19.
Floyd Cardoz was 59.
