Cone Health opened its new Women’s & Children’s Center at Moses Cone Hospital Sunday morning. The $100 million dollar facility opened at 5:30 a.m. and is 4.5 miles from the old facility. The move has been planned for months with hundreds of people involved to make it happen, including nurses, physicians, EMS teams, and international experts.

On Sunday, they transported 32 women and 50 babies; 28 of those babies were NICU patients. Rifat Kabir and her newborn daughter, Nahlay, were the first patients transported to the new facility. She told us she values the quality of any hospital taking care of her newborn.

“Whenever you see a new facility, you see everything it has so you can get the best care for your children,” Kabir explained.

The center has 111 licensed beds, with 141 total, and also increased security, valet parking, and desk coverage with 24/7 clinical support.

Now that the center is on Cone Health’s campus, clinicians will be able to interact with one another and help provide better care to these mothers and their newborn babies.
