The sanitation department is getting salt trucks ready ahead of the wintry mix expected to hit the city Sunday.
While we're not expecting a big snowfall, the city agencies are mobilizing to handle the slick conditions expected beginning Sunday and lasting into Monday night.
"We have loaded all 705 of our spreaders. We may need to move into plows on Monday. We will be adding 1,500 plows on Monday should we get to plowable depths. As I'll say again it’s two inches or more as we start to plow the streets," said Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia.
The city is urging people to use mass transit and allow extra time to travel around the city.
Drivers should also be mindful of their speeds and take it slow.
